Advice: Always lead with integrity, as exemplified through ethical, behavioral, and moral virtues. Use that integrity to influence and motivate those around you, while setting the example of how others should lead.

Qualities sought in emerging leaders: I look for authentic leaders that are continually developing themselves and the business that they lead. They must have the ability to lead with purpose and passion, while driving results. Also, the candidates must be able to build quality relationships at all levels of the organization, and get employees to follow them anywhere, anytime. Finally, the candidates must be good communicators that are strong at active and passive listening and articulate their message very well.

Sector specialization: Health Care

Job function specialization: Chief Executive Officer for healthcare leadership inclusive of CEO, CFO, COO, CNO, and VP of HR

Geographical Focus: Global

Companies I often recruit for: Not Provided

Favorite historical figure: Ewing Marion Kauffman. He began working as a salesman for a pharmaceutical company. In 1950, his innately entrepreneurial spirit led him to start his own pharmaceutical company, Marion Laboratories, in the basement of his home. In his first year in business, he had sales of $36,000 and a net profit of $1,000. When he sold his company to Merrell Dow in 1989, it had grown to become a global diversified health-care giant with nearly $1 billion in sales and employing 3,400 associates. Mr. Kauffman brought more to Kansas City than an international business. With his purchase of the Royals in 1968, he brought Major League Baseball back to his home town and made the Royals a model sports franchise.
