Focus On Frames Glasses are no longer for vision correction alone. Here are some new eye-catching options From the sassy red glasses of Ugly Betty (the hit TV show) fame to the Fendi frames Jack Nicholson sports, eyewear has grabbed the spotlight. Whereas a single pair once sufficed, many people now have wardrobes of glasses they can alternate between the boardroom, the bedroom, and the ballroom. 1. UBERNERD Thick, black rectangular frames define geek chic ($595, "Dismembered," Chrome Hearts, osainternational.com). 2. AVIATORS These glasses are sporty, sleek, and feather light, and they snap back into shape if you sit on them ($385, "rudi v.," ic! Berlin, ic-berlin.de). 3. TECH SPECS Architectural spectacles that are made of a titanium and acetate alloy telegraph a polish that's perfect for evening ($370, Eyebeam 2, Kata, kataeyewear.com). 4. OFFICE STYLE Candice Bergen wears these half-rim readers on TV's Boston Legal ($85, "Cindy," Amy Sacks, amysacks.com). 5. FUNKY Red frames are the rage, thanks to Ugly Betty. But this rectangular style is more modern than the vintage cat's-eye frame worn on the show ($495, A0464, Alain Mikli, www.mikli.com). 6. EVENING LIMELIGHT Intricate eyepieces with hand-painted cloisonné or inlaid crystals sparkle at night. The designs on this laser-cut, jewel-studded frame are inspired by the Taj Mahal ($700, JL 1556, Judith Leiber, judithleiber.com). By Marisa Fox
