COACH 101

A basic guide to the best and worse in economy class seating

AIRLINE        AIRCRAFT     ROW/SEAT     COMMENT


American B 757-200 17,18/A-F Some complain the seat cushions are less padded than normal.

Continental B 737-800 14/A-F Extra legroom due to exit row and a full recline. Also, since there is a seat in front of you, the tray table is not in the armrest.

Delta B 777-200 55/C, G Tends to get bumped often [by carts and passengers] due to the plane curvature.

JetBlue A 320 11,12/A-F Extra legroom due to the exit room. [But] unfor- tunately are not available for preassignment and can only be selected on the day of flight.

Northwest DC 9-30 21/A-F Does not recline at all and has no windows.

United B 747-400 59-61/B, J Good because the tail of the plane tapers in, leav[ing] extra room to the side of you to place extra baggage.

US Airways A 319 5/A-F Extra legroom [but] since the [movie] screen is directly over head, you will have to peer into first class [screens].
