In "Microsoft's CFO will split" (In Business This Week, Jan. 24), we failed to factor in Microsoft Corp.'s (MSFT
) February, 2003, 2-for-1 stock split in our calculation of the stock's performance during John Connors' five-year tenure since January, 2000, as chief financial officer. Microsoft shares declined 51%, not 74%.
Re "The cash heads home" (News: Analysis & Commentary, Dec. 27) about corporations repatriating overseas earnings: The graphic "Overseas stash" used data provided by the non-profit Citizens for Tax Justice, and was based on a methodology which included cumulative unrepatriated foreign earnings for companies that were profitable in the U.S. in the years 2001, 2002, and 2003. Companies that were not profitable in the U.S. were excluded, and we should have clarified that.
