The albatross-like White Knight turbojet, with SpaceShipOne suspended underneath, passes a windmill farm as it heads for launch height. The rocket plane is dropped at around 50,000 feet. The spaceship's pilot than fires a rocket and shoots almost straight up. With a rocket "burn" lasting about 80 seconds, SpaceShipOne hits Mach 3 and briefly pops out of the earth's atmosphere.
