Compass Bancshares Inc. operates 358 offices located in Sunbelt states, not 117, as incorrectly stated in "Poised to survive third-quarter doldrums" (Inside Wall Street, Aug. 11, 2003).

"To Go Under the Knife -- or Not?" (BusinessWeek Investor, July 7, 2003)

In "To Go Under the Knife -- or Not?" (BusinessWeek Investor, July 7), a 1999 study on hospital patient deaths resulting from medical errors was incorrectly attributed to the National Institutes of Health. It was conducted by the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies.
