What's New in Motoring, Fashion and Grooming

Cult US grooming brand Kiehl's pops up in all the hip places: Concorde, The Standard hotel in LA, Nobu in New York. The company has never advertised, relying on word of mouth, and word has now reached The White House - Kiehl's is the brand of choice on Air Force One. Kiehl's first European store opened on London's Monmouth Street last year, and Kiehl's is available at Le Bon Marche, Paris; Nue Blue Eriu, Dublin; Ludwig Beck, Munich and Profumo, Milan. Enquiries: +44 (0) 8562 5560; www.kiehls.com

Surf's Up

The Volkswagen T2 was the surfer's carrier of choice from the early Sixties. It oozed cool and could take a stack of boards, accommodate six surfers, and act as changing room, kitchen, bar and bedroom. Now Volkswagen, in nostalgic mood, has announced that a new version will be in production next year. It will have no mechanical connection to its forebear, with a 3.2-litre V6 boasting 10 times the original's power, but purists can recapture the van's glory days with a slice of The Beach Boys in the optional 10-CD changer.
