"The Fine Print" (BusinessWeek Investor, Feb. 4) reported that IBM's pension fund boosted its 2000 earnings by $824 million, or 7% of pretax income. This reflects the impact of IBM's U.S. pension fund alone. When IBM's non-U.S. plans are included, pension income boosted 2000 earnings by $1.171 billion, or 10.2% of pretax income.
