Turkcell Iletisim Hizmetleri

(NYSE: TKC)

Turkey

Life for Turkey's No. 1 telecommunications provider just seems to be getting better and better. The company added about 843,000 subscribers in the first quarter of this year alone, reaching an astonishing 29 million customers by Mar. 31. Turkcell also clearly knows what these consumers, many of them upscale, modern youngsters, want. It recently partnered with EMI Music, the world's leading independent music company, to offer the Turkcell MobilMuzik service— giving them immediate access to EMI's extensive range of digital music, from Nilufer to Nellie Furtado. Turkcell translated this success into winnings for its investors too, offering a return on equity of 33.5% for the year ended May 31.
