Inventec

(TSEC: 2356)

Taiwan

What's harder than being a Taiwanese original design manufacturer (known as ODMs —the suppliers that are constantly getting squeezed by their big-name customers)? The answer: being a second-tier Taiwanese ODM. While larger companies like Quanta Computer and Compal Electronics have won the bulk of orders from customers like Dell and Hewlett Packard, smaller player Inventec has long struggled to win recognition. But the company is now making some headway. With Japan's Toshiba outsourcing more and more of its notebook production, Inventec has turn into a big winner. And the company is also aggressively diversifying by promoting itself as a manufacturer of not just notebooks but also servers.
