Telekomunikasi Indonesia
The Indonesian telecom giant is on a roll. Its cellular service has grown an explosive 65% so far this year, on top of 67% last year, to reach a total of 20 million subscribers. Still, Telekom's cellular unit, Tekomsel, faces fierce competition as new players like Hong Kong's Hutchison and Malaysia's Maxis roll out their own services.
Telekom is also a dominant player in fixed-line telephony and Internet access, where penetration remains a paltry 6%. Demand, however, is fairly strong on the back of a robust economy, which is expected to grow 6.5% this year. The company is now looking at overseas acquisitions in Cambodia, Vietnam, and Bangladesh to sustain the 30% annual growth it's seeking over the next five years.
