Telecom Cp New Zealand
Following a recent marketing blitz, the big Kiwi telecommunications company has begun clawing back market share from challengers like Britain's Vodafone and Australia's Telstra. Vodafone, which entered the market six years ago, had increased its cellular services share to 60%, but has seen that cut to 54% as Telecom New Zealand fought back.
CEO Theresa Gattung, 43, has repositioned the telecom giant as an aggressive broadband player. And it's working: Profits from its old, core fixed-line telephony and international calls operations keeps plunging while the broadband business is on the rise. Telecom New Zealand also is growing its Australian business where its AAPT unit is a distant No.3 player in a fiercely competitive market.
