Barclays PLC (BCS) shares seen lower despite co. announcement that it will raise nearly $12 billion by selling securities to investors, including funds in Abu Dhabi and Qatar, instead of tapping UK bailout plan.

BT Group PLC (BT) says second quarter EBITDA and EPS will be slightly below expectations due to weakness at BT Global Services unit, where it expects EBITDA of around GP120 million, significantly below prior view. Fall in EBITDA is due to slower-than-anticipated delivery of efficiency savings and the continued decline in higher margin UK business. Now expects total-company EBITDA is likely to show a small decline in fiscal year 2009 compared with last year, with the consequent impact on EPS and free cash flow.

Burger King Holdings (BKC) posts $0.38, vs. $0.35, first quarter adjusted EPS on 3.6% higher same-store sales, 12% higher total sales. Street was looking for $0.39. Reaffirms its fiscal year 2009 EPS forecast of $1.54-$1.59.

Sun Microsystems (JAVA) posts $0.09 first quarter non-GAAP loss, vs. $0.32 EPS, on 7.1% revenue decline. Total gross margin as a percent of revenues was 40.2%, a decrease of 8.3 percentage points vs. first quarter fiscal year 2008.

Healthspring (HS) posts $0.53, vs. $0.39, third quarter EPS on 44% revenue rise. Raises 2008 EPS guidance to $2.10-$2.20.

Biogen Idec (BIIB) elects to participate with Genentech (DNA) in development, commercialization of GA101 in U.S. GA101 is a novel humanized anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody engineered to increase both direct- and immune-mediated target cell death for the potential treatment of hematologic malignancies.

Scotts Miracle-Gro (SMG) posts $0.54 fourth quarter loss, vs. $0.63 loss (both reported), on 7% company-wide sales rise. Sees fiscal year 2009 adjusted EPS of $2.00, based on the assumption of nominal sales growth.

Akamai Technologies (AKAM) posts $0.40, vs. $0.34, third quarter normalized EPS on 22% revenue rise.

Cabela's (CAB) posts $0.15, vs. $0.20, third quarter EPS on 9.0% lower same-store sales. Total revenue rose 12%. Now expects low to mid-teen percentage decline in 2008 EPS on high single-digit total revenue rise.
