AG Edwards Upgrades Lilly to 'Buy'
Analyst Albert Rauch says the drugmaker's new products and pipeline should provide strong earnings growth in 2004 and beyond

AG Edwards upgraded Eli Lilly to buy from hold.

Analyst Albert Rauch says the drugmaker's results are in line with estimates. He says Lilly has a portfolio of new drugs, and a pipeline of evolving products. These include Forteo (for severe osteoporosis), Cymbalta (for depression), Strattera (for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder), Cialis (for erectile dysfunction), intramuscular Zyprexa (for schizophrenia), and Symbyax (for bipolar depression).

He notes introduction of these products should provide Lilly with strong earnings growth in 2004 and beyond. Rauch sees $2.58 2003 earnings per share, $3.05 for 2004, and $3.57 in 2005.
