Prudential says initial Thanksgiving PC retail sales bode well for consumer pure plays Gateway (GTW ) and Apple Computer (AAPL ).

Analyst Kim Alexy says retail PC foot traffic and unit sales have remained in line, and in some cases are slightly better than prior holiday season trends. She says that while survey trends are not suggestive of explosive retail strength, they are clearly better than year-to-date consumer sales figures and better than many OEM expectations.

Alexy says that GTW and AAPL shares are trading at relatively attractive valuations, and thinks there may be attractive fourth quarter trading opportunities for both stocks.
