Aventis Rejects Bid from Sanofi-Synthelabo
Sovereign Bancorp agrees to acquire Seacoast Financial, and more deal news

Aventis (AVE ) reportedly rejects a 47.8 billion euros hostile takeover offer from Sanofi-Synthelabo (SNY ). (1/26)


Seacoast Financial Services (SCFS ) agrees to be acquired by Sovereign Bancorp (SOV ) in all-stock deal valued at about $1.1 billion. Terms: 1.4610 SOV shares per SCFS share (subject to collar valuing each SCFS share at about $35.00). (1/26)

Luxottica Group (LUX ) agrees to acquire Cole National (CNJ ). Terms: $22.50 per share, same price for outstanding options and equity rights, for total of $401 million. (1/26)

EBay (EBAY ) agrees to acquire mobile.de, a German provider of online automobile classifieds, for about $152 million. (1/26)

Central Garden & Pet (CENT ) agrees to acquire New England Pottery for $69 million. (1/26)
