J.P. Morgan Chase Says it Will Acquire Bank One AT&T Wireless may be near a deal with Cingular, and more deal news J.P. Morgan Chase (JPM ) says it will acquire Bank One (ONE ). The deal could be valued at about $60 billion, according to the Wall Street Journal. (1/14) AT&T Wireless (AWE ) and Cingular -- with the backing of its parent companies SBC Communications (SBC ) and BellSouth (BLS ) -- are close to a deal for a possible merger or acquisition, according to BusinessWeek Online. (1/14) Abbott Laboratories (ABT ) agreed to acquire TheraSense (THER ) for $27 per share, or about $1.2 billion. Abbott expects the deal to reduce 2004 EPS by 1 cent and add to earnings thereafter. (1/13) Stellent (STEL ) agrees to buy Optika (OPTK ). Terms 0.44 STEL share for each OPTK share. (1/12) Barnesandnoble.com (BNBN ) agrees to be taken private by Barnes & Noble (BKS ) for $3.05 per share. (1/9) Sky Financial Group (SKYF ) agrees to buy Second Bancorp (SECD ). Terms: 1.26 SKYF share for each SECD share. (1/9) Independent Bank Corp. (INDB ) agrees to buy Falmouth Bancorp (FCB ). Terms: 1/2 FCB shares outstanding to be converted into 1.28 INDB shares each; other 1/2 for $38 cash each. (1/9) Boyd Bros. Transportation (BOYD ) agrees to be taken private by management-led group BBT Acquisition Corp. for $7 per share. (1/2) Gundle/SLT Environmental (GSE ) agrees to merge with GEO Holdings Corp.; GSE shares to be converted into $18.50 cash. (1/2) Cotton States Life Insurance (CSLI ) agrees to merge with a unit of Country Insurance & Financial Services for $20.25 per share. (12/30/03) Tutogen Medical (TTG ) ends talks to sell out to private equity firm. (12/29/03) Invitrogen (IVGN ) agrees to buy Bioreliance (BREL ) for $48 per share. (12/24/03) BSB Bancorp (BSBN ) agrees to buy Partners Trust Financial (PRTR ), subject to PRTR being reorganized, for $36 in cash or stock. (12/24/03) Mesa Air Group (MESA ) cancels acquisition offer for Atlantic Coast Airlines (ACAI ). (12/23/03) An affiliate of Oak Hill Capital Partners L.P. agrees to buy Duane Reade (DRD ) for $17 per share. (12/23/03) Hanmi Financial (HAFC ) agrees to buy Pacific Union Bank (PUBB ) for 6.12 million shares and $164.5 million in cash. (12/23/03)
