Piper Jaffray Upgrades Sonic Solutions
Analyst Gene Munster says the computer-based audio and video tool maker's relationship with Dell is getting closer

Piper Jaffray upgrades Sonic Solutions (SNIC ) to outperform from market perform.

Analyst Gene Munster says the company's core PC DVD/CD burning market is holding steady, with market growth, new pricing models (excluding its Dell relationship) currently offsetting continual ASP decline.

He notes, in addition to the existing deal for MyDVD and RecordNow, Sonic Soluutions is also selling a media center application to Dell. He believes the addition of this software to Dell's offerings is another sign the Dell/Sonic Solutions relationship is getting closer together, vs. further apart.

Munster notes new markets are emerging for the company's technologies in the area of digital convergence. He raises his $20 target to $27.
