 Major Objectives

At Valero, community involvement is an integral part of our corporate culture, from organized Valero Volunteer Councils (Valero employees gave a record 200,000 volunteer hours in 2004) to our financial support of countless community organizations. In fact, making a difference in the lives of others has been the foundation of Valero's success. Despite the company's tremendous growth and change in the last 25 years, Valero employees have remained committed to this caring philosophy. As a result, Valero has become an even better and more successful company.
Valero's community and volunteer activities not only benefit our communities, but they also foster camaraderie among employees, from the board room to the mail room, and they even become family affairs. The company's emphasis on volunteerism has given Valero employees a special caring and sharing spirit that sets the standard for others in our communities to follow. And success is measured not only by the number of employees who volunteer for these various community projects but also by the results which are achieved on behalf of deserving programs and individuals within the community.
