 Major Objectives

The SBC family of companies view philanthropy and social accountability as an important part of our commitment to customers, employees, shareholders and the communities in which we live. That's why our programs are robust and multi-faceted, extending far beyond significant financial contributions to include volunteerism (SBC Pioneers) and special community-based projects that promote Internet security, education programs and family preparedness for unexpected emergencies. The SBC Foundation is a private foundation and the philanthropic arm of SBC Communications, Inc.

The SBC Foundation focuses on projects that fit into one of several designated program areas -- education, health/human services, community development and culture/arts -- as well as projects that are designed to increase access to information technologies, broaden technology training and professional development, and effectively integrate new technologies.
