Office Depot seeks to enhance quality of life one child at a time by providing new backpacks containing basic school supplies to deserving children who might not otherwise be able to begin the school year with the proper tools required for success. The company donated 250,000 backpacks in 2004 and is distributing 300,000 in 2005.

Through this program, the Company expresses its commitment to Caring and Making a Difference and Taking Care of Kids. This program serves individual children and their families, schools and communitiy-based organizations. Every Office Depot store in the United States and Canada distributes backpacks to nonprofit organizations and schools in their communities prior to the start of the new school year.
