As Johnson Controls continues to increase in size and reach, we recognize the need to formalize and focus on two components of our corporate Vision: the protection of the environment and the development of our people. We believe that our performance in these two areas is just as vital as our financial returns in enabling Johnson Controls to sustain its growth. To leverage our efforts, in 2004 we launched the global Blue Sky program.

 Major Objectives

While Johnson Controls does not at this time have a formal volunteer program, employees give freely of their time, skills and energy to improve and strengthen the hundreds of communities we call home. Our community involvement programs provide structure and resources for volunteer efforts and recognition. We encourage our people to get involved in our communities, and they do so in many ways. Thousands of employees around the world volunteer time for activities such as tutoring children, preparing and serving meals to the homeless, and helping the elderly. In 2004 we launched Blue Sky, a program focused on our employees and the environment to benefit our communities. Under Blue Sky, the company is launching Blue Sky Involve in Fiscal 2006 (which begins in October 2005). Blue Sky Involve establishes criteria for local employee volunteerism and philanthrop, which will allow us to more formally track volunteer and philanthropy efforts worldwide.

In the United States, the Johnson Controls Foundation supports charitable causes by contributing to nonprofit organizations, mainly in communities where we have a presence. Extra consideration goes to organizations in which our employees are involved and contribute their time or money. The Foundation's advisory board evaluates requests according to established policies and guildines.

The Foundation supports the company's commitment to diversity by contributing to culturally and ethnically diverse organizations. The Foundation also matches dollar-for-dollar the personal gifts of employees, retirees and members of the Board of Directors to culture and arts organizations, education organizations, and the United Way.
