Sometimes it’s hard to keep your big mouth shut when you’re a journalist. Such was the case with CBS Interactive’s rumored purchase of financial video blog Wallstrip. Now it’s official, says proud papa and show founder Howard Lindzon. CBS is scooping up the finance world’s most irreverant and sassy 5 minutes a day along with hiring the creatively talented team of talent, led by host Lindsay Campbell and co-producers Adam Elend and Jeff Marks.
I first noticed Wallstrip back in a September, 2006, blog entry and wrote a short profile in the magazine in January, which directly led to — in my humble opinion — the best episode ever, wherein we discover just how much fame can be garnered from a one-page Businessweek profile:
You are a pro aaron. we love bus week obviously and you are to be congratulated for your open minded review of such a risky endeavor. You were right on.
Another great small-time operation sacrificed to the tides of corporate news reporting. Put one great thing through the wash and it comes out the same as all the others. Lets hope they can continue keep their creativity within the show.
Businessweek’s Lauren Young, Aaron Pressman, Emily Thornton, Amy Feldman, Ben Levisohn, and Ben Steverman focus on matters great and small for investors, from the views of a hot fund manager to an explanation of the latest products devised by Wall Street’s rocket scientists. Exploring trends in any area, from bonds and stocks to closed-end funds and futures, always with an eye towards giving investors a better understanding of the sometimes confusing and often chaotic world of finance. Standard & Poor’s senior index analyst Howard Silverblatt will also provide his take on companies’ finances and the markets. Voted one of the “Top 100 Finance Blogs” in 2007.
