I fully agree with these. I think there is one more one should add - LUCK, and a big dose of it.

Enjoy reading your column, interesting and helpful.

One other thing, where are you originally from, do you happen to be a "kababayan".

Keep it up.

I've seen people invest their money and save as much money as they could over their lives and then become so old & sick that they never get a chance to enjoy life itself!! When MONEY becomes the goal in life, it will most likely become your life!! The numbers NEVER end! Once a person attains a goal, or a dollar amount, there's always a higher number, isn't there?? What good is a MILLION DOLLARS or even a BILLION DOLLARS if you aren't happy & healthy?? This is one of the reasons that the majority of Americans will never attain HAPPINESS!! It becomes an addiction, like drinking & doing drugs, etc. We are "conditioned" into believing things that are just NOT true in America!! Just like the "American Dream"; Home Ownership! Go ask 1,000 Americans if their home is really their "dream" right now!! I'll bet that any 80 year old MILLIONAIRE with a home "paid for" would trade all of his or her money for YOUTH & HEALTH & HAPPINESS if they could!! So much for the money!!

hi everybody--this is gene marcial and i would like to express my appreciation for all the comments about my book and my column at BusinessWeek. One of the most satisfying rewards of writing a book is the feedback and response from readers on how the book is relevant and informative in today's world. As to the question of barbara about searching for Sass in the SEC.gov site, just scroll and look for 13D or 13F filings of MDSass. Another source could be the edgar.com. As to Terence's comments about luck, i do agree that being lady luck on your side in investing is not a bad thing. But as you know, luck helps those who help themselves. And as to Dan's query, yes, I am a "kababayan." Kumusta ka? Mabuhay. Thanks for being a constanrt reader of muy Inside Wall Street column. As to the philosophical mnusings of karl, I understand what he says about youth, health and happiness. Indeed, that is we all wish for. Again, thank you all for your comments. gene marcial

Picked up your book at the Spokane airport on Friday and loved it. I have formed an investment group that only invests in ETF's, so was glad to read your comments on those. We will use your book at our future meetings. I am also teaching a continuing ed course on How to Become a Better Investor, and this fits in perfectly. Congratulations.

As a ardent reader of Businessweek, it was greatly nice to come across your name in my favorite column Personal Business by which I am always inspired at a very practical level. Your 7 commandments really direct me to the way I shoud follow. No.1 Buy Panic, in particular, has woken me up!

Anyway, where can I buy your book?

Gene,

I am always eager to learn more. I am looking forward to reading your book. Have you ever wondered how Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger frame an investment decision? I think you might like my new small self-published book. My book, "The Four Filters Invention of Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger" examines each of the basic steps they perform in framing and making an investment decision.

Warren Buffett mentions the Four Filters this way: "Charlie and I look for companies that have a) a business we understand; b) favorable long-term economics; c) able and trustworthy management; and d) a sensible price tag." These Four Filters can enhance the probability of our investment success. It looks into the 4 clusters of products, customers, management, and value safety from a behavioral point of view. My book is available at www.frips.com and, it includes a valuation case example of Kraft, KFT.

Here is a 10 min. audio book summary:

Mabuhay to you as well!

I heard you say on the Nightly Business Report that you don't own any stock except McGraw Hill, your employer. Would you read what an author says about the agony of war in the trenches if he never even was in the Army?

I missed the data or copied it wrong. You advised looking at MBTL (?) at 2.00 + or - and said that it was a a device for charging mobile devices. Can you give me the correct data?
