This year's ranking of Tech's Hot Growth Companies makes it clear that China is officially a technology powerhouse. Two of the five top companies on our list are Chinese. While U.S. companies still dominate the list in terms of sheer numbers, this is the first time a Chinese company has ranked No. 1 or No. 3. What's behind the Chinese companies' banner year?

Three companies—Google, AT&T, and Apple—are among the top finishers for the second year running. Also in the top 10 are four makers of computer chips or their components, a sign of robust global demand for PCs and cell phones.
