To compile this ranking, BusinessWeek used self-reported internship data from employers (70%), feedback from career services directors across the U.S. (20%), and our own Best Places to Launch a Career ranking (10%). All data shown is for 2009. Total pay includes salary plus bonuses, stipends, travel allowances, and other benefits. For the Employer Survey Rank, BusinessWeek combined the 2009 data on diversity, interns hired, hourly pay, total pay, job offers made, job offers accepted, and the percentage of entry-level hires who were former interns. Roughly 80 finalists were selected based on career services feedback and those that then completed the internship survey were considered for the ranking, with the top 40 ultimately making the cut.
