I had an interesting chat with Ted Mico, VP of Digital at Interscope / Geffen / A&M Records (EPA: VIV) recently. It was prompted by this piece I wrote, charging that as Apple and music labels move forward with digital packaging, they were forgetting to up the terrible quality of compressed music.
Mico and his boss, one Jimmy Iovine, agree. The full details are to come, but the company is gearing up with plans to reinvigorate the entire music ecosystem. That means possibly addressing packaging, sound quality, dissemination, and artist development. (fingers crossed)
