This weekend saw the International Contemporary Furniture Fair roll into New York City, along with satellite shows that were held all over the city. As you might expect, it was a smaller event than in previous years, and honestly I wasn’t entirely overwhelmed by what I saw. Much of the expected, not so much genuinely startling invention. In the video above, I talk to a few of the exhibitors, including Maurice Blanks from Blu Dot and Tracey Kelly from Ikea — along with the show organizer, Phil Robinson, who was putting a brave face on things. You’ll also see my very favorite item from the show, a chest of drawers apparently designed to drive its owner completely crazy — or at least force her to reconsider the obsessive need to have all drawers firmly shut at the same time.
