Photojournalist James Nachtwey has produced some truly searing reportage images in his time. He’s the man who travels to the heart of the world’s war/death/disease zones to document the reality of life there, forcing a global audience to pay attention to what’s going on when most everyone would prefer to look away. For the past few years, and as a result of a $100,000 prize from the TED conference (see my coverage from this year’s conference here,) Nachtwey has been documenting the spread of extremely drug-resistant tuberculosis (XDR-TB), a disease he says threatens to become a global pandemic. Tonight and through the rest of October, his pictures will be projected onto buildings and at events in cities around the world, with all being urged to join the network and take action. I’m hoping to catch one of the New York events tonight — if you see one, let me know how it went. Meantime, here’s a snippet:
What comes next? The BusinessWeek Innovation and Design team of Michael Arndt, Jay Greene , Reena Jana, Damian Joseph, Jessie Scanlon, and Helen Walters chronicle new tools for creativity and collaboration, innovation case studies in both the corporate and social sectors, and the new ideas that have the power to change the way things have always been done.
