Yves Béhar on civic design

Posted by: Jessi Hempel on May 18, 2007

Yves Béhar joined Bruce and I for lunch today. We talked education (He chairs the Industrial Design Department at California College of the Arts), concept designs, and the democratization of design.

Last week Yves stressed the importance of using design to solve social problems at The New Yorker Conference. You can check out his 15 minute talk here. Much like the TED conference, the New Yorker Conference appears to attract an eclectic group of high level executives, designers, and investors among others. It is also extending its brand through web videos. Can anyone offer perspective on how these conference compare and what other conferences (perhaps Pop!Tech) offer similar deep think liberal arts experiences?
