Help. I Need to Offset my Carbon Footprint.

Posted by: Bruce Nussbaum on June 15, 2009

I’m flying to Denmark next week to help prepare for an innovation conference in August and I’ll be generating nearly 3 thousand pounds of C02 emissions, according to Fred Collopy, who used the Terrapass Carbon Footprint Calculator. Fred is a professor of information systems, software designer, imagist (and Twitter buddy) at Case Western Reserve University.,

So my question is—how best can I offset that huge amount of C02? I live in an apartment, use the subway most of the time and, yes, I could choose not to go. That’s easy. What are other options?

Next time, fly British Airways. They have a carbon offset option as part of their reservation system. They quoted me something like 26 Euros to offset carbon for the return I recently booked, from Dublin to Houston via London Heathrow.

This time - well, will happily take your money, but aren't you already doing enough e.g. using a green energy supplier?

There are quite a few sites where they let you pay and offset the footprint.
