Nardelli At Chrysler--Doesn't Make Sense.

Posted by: Bruce Nussbaum on August 8, 2007

Check out this Winding Road comment on the appointment of Robert Nardelli to head Chrysler. Winding Road is one of the best auto sites.

David E. Davis’s criticism of Nardelli is simple—he isn’t a “car” guy. He’s a slash and burn guy who doesn’t know anything about car design. There was a time when a Dream Team led Chrysler, according to David E. They were ” Lee Iacocca, Bob Lutz, Tom Gale, Tom Stalkamp, Francois Castaing, and Dennis Pawley.” All powerful and complimentary in the auto abilities.

Tom Gale is still on the Cerberus team I believe and that may help. But how he performs under the Six Sigma managment of Nardelli is a big question.

the message looks rather simple: clean up and sell!
some wise guys have calculated that the brand can not be ruined much more in the next years so a radical efficiency plan is what these doctors prescribed.
bad news.
cerberus is living up to the sad stereotype of their industry.
