Do You Have "Authority" On Technorati?

Tip of the hat to David Armano over at Logic + Emotion for highlighting the fact that Technorati has changed the way it measures—and describes—links to blogs. David doesn’t think it’s user-friendly.

What Technorati calls its "links" or "authority" is irrelevant. (If Technorati were really interested in "user-friendiness," they'd have a different name to begin with."

Since Google is God, what matters is *their* assessment of your importance. That is your "PageRank." That gets factored into how high up your site gets placed in their searches. And, that leads to real money!

"NOD" is a "6". "Logic+Emotion" is a "6." So is "Creative Think." BTW, Google is a "10."

I really like using Technorati, and I'm less concerned about rank rather than speed. I often find myself waiting long periods of time to find relevant blog posts. I wait, of course, because it's often the best place for me to find fun design information. I don't find Technorati very helpful when attempting to build traffic, though. My experience is that I get about 40 times more traffic from Google than Technorati. This is surprising to me: I get my second most traffic from a European design web-ring called lounge72 which is about 1/3 of what Google gets me. This traffic has been there from day one and has sustained throughout my membership to the ring. Why? I have no idea.
