Rent, Don't Own. Service, Not Products. Try The Peninsular Hotel in NYC.

No, this isn’t an ad for the Peninsula but for a concept. You can rent fancy clothes at the NYC Peninsula when you stay there. Check this out:

“The Peninsula Wardrobe at The Peninsula New York

Guests enjoy exclusive access to Wardrobe NYC, a unique service that houses an extensive collection of couture to vintage and ready-to-wear designer pieces available for rent. A consultation with a stylist is also available to complete your new look!”

Now think about that for a moment. Instead of buying expensive couture dresses for the NY scene, just fly out with your jeans and rent them.

So you pay for service, rather than a product. The transformation of products into services is a BIG idea. You can use fewer resources to make less stuff and still enjoy the good life. We do a bit of that with houses and cars today, but on the smallest of scales.

After clothes, what else should we be renting?
