I’ve been getting lots of backstory data on the class at Stanford that produced a successful business model for Mozilla, the internet browser company that we featured in our story on how design schools and joint programs between D-school and B-schools produce innovative talent and ideas. For a lot more on the students in the Mozilla class—and more classes, check out Bob Sutton’s blog—he was one of the team teachers.
We’ve been building up our innovation and design team and we now have six of us covering this crucial space. Jessi Hempel and Aili McConon wrote The Talent Hunt piece on where to look for innovative talent. The extraordinary Jessie Scanlon, who created the Innovation & Design site, did the hard work in shaping the amazing interractive table on global design schools and programs. Jana Reena doess everything, from gaming culture to fashion. And now Helen Walters has joined us run the I&D channel.
In true open source fashion, we all write, edit, report and do the conference thing for all our brands and platforms—the I&D channel, IN magazine and, of course, BW. It’s an extraordinary team and I’m lucky to be part of it. And Bob and Diego are part of the smart innovation/design network spreading around the globe. I’m lucky to know these folks as well (and yes, the sun is shining and the fall bird migration is under way in Central Park so I’m in a good mood).
