… appropriately enough, it’s on tmz.com. The complete text is reproduced below.

Poll results released this week say that one in four US adults did not read a single book in the last year.

Thank you, America!

I've often noticed that the people who claim to work 60-80 hours per week always have a proper answer to "what book are you reading now?"
I think IRL the people who don't read books would be higher.

I am not sure what constitutes reading a book, but I didn't delve into the study. I read a book to my kids every day, but I don't have any time outside of that to read for myself more than one book a year- I've still got Don Delillo's "Underworld" on my nightstand! For a number of informational and fiction books I rely on my library's audio books over the internet system via http://www.overdrive.com/. I do not consider listening to a book while reading email "reading." Other than that I read only work-related non-fiction, there simply aren't enough hours in the day to add in an hour of reading. I noticed a fair amount of secretaries this summer read various potboiler mysteries over their lunch hour though, which makes me wonder about these numbers a little bit. I mean, you know, where I work if you don't know James Patterson, where you been?
