The Only Thing I WIll Write about the Super Bowl, its Ads, and/or the Haltime Show

Posted by: Jon Fine on February 6, 2006

THE SETTING: A steakhouse in Brooklyn, where the Fine family is gathered to celebrate my father’s imminent 70th birthday.

THE SCENE: Jon Fine and his 5 year old nephew Zeke Fine are taking a post-prandial break at the bar. There they watch the Rolling Stones stagger through the halftime show.

JON (turns to ZEKE and gestures at Mick Jagger): See that man? He’s almost as old as Grandpa.

ZEKE, whose chin barely clears the bar, nods and keeps watching.

Thirty seconds pass.

ZEKE (tinged ever-so-slightly with disdain): He looks older than Grandpa.
