Special Help Page

If you're coming from AOL, or if you use Internet Explorer (which AOL incorporates as its browser), you may have problems getting through to the subscription area of Business Week Online. That's because the e-commerce software we use, which is provided by Open Market, enforces high levels of security to protect your personal information.

Also, if you're coming to Business Week Online from behind a corporate firewall, please note that Port 443 for HTTPS (secure HTTP) must be open.

You can adjust your AOL or Internet Explorer browser in ways that should let you see this site. Here's what to do:

For Internet Explorer 5:

1. Click on View then Options (some versions use other labels, such as Tools and Internet Options) to reach the settings screen.
2. Click Security tab, choose Internet, click on Custom Level, set level to Low, and click OK
3. Click Advanced tab, if available, scroll to HTTP 1.1 settings and make sure no boxes are checked. Also scroll to Security area and make sure Use SSL 2.0, at least, is checked. Click Apply.

For earlier Internet Explorer versions:

1. Click on View then Options in your browser.
2. In Cryptography Settings (under Advanced), accept all of the Security Protocols.
3. In Safety Level (under Security), choose either the "medium" or "none" setting.

If you still have a problem reaching the subscription area of Business Week Online, you should upgrade to the most recent version of Internet Explorer software. You will find it at Microsoft's Web site: http://www.microsoft.com

For AOL:

With some versions of the AOL browser, you can see our entire site. If your version won't let you, please do the following:

1. Click on the Prefs button on your Web browser. Or choose Members or My Aol on the AOL menu bar, then click on the Preferences option.

2. On the next screen, choose "WWW" option.

3. Use one of the Internet Explorer procedures listed above.

If you still have a problem reaching the subscription area of Business Week Online, you should upgrade to the most recent version of AOL's software. You will find it at Keyword: Upgrade.
