Broadband and Home Networks Go Hand in Hand
Networking companies are enthusiastic about the potential of broadband Internet access -- connections via cable or digital subscriber line modems that zip data up to 100 times faster than today's speediest dial-ups. Broadband access could be a key driver for cybershopping. Many players also are jazzed about the emerging opportunity for computer networks in homes, allowing PCs to share printers, hard drives, and most important, a Net connection. New data confirm that broadband and home networks are likely to grow in lockstep. After all, the best reason to install a home network is to give everyone in the family access to a speedy pipe.
