| BUSINESS WEEK E.BIZ -- COVER STORY
Scorecards on Internet Storefronts Gomez Advisors, a Lincoln (Mass.) consultant and ratings service, was one of the first sites online to subjectively rate different e-commerce merchants. We've taken a few of their ratings in different hot categories to show how Gomez sizes up the competition in areas like books, music, and video. Gomez assembles the scorecards by reviewing about 100 different criteria. To get category rankings, Gomez rolls each criterion up into one of five categories (ease of use, customer confidence, on-site resources, relationship services, overall cost). Gomez then averages the five categories. | Apparel | Toys | Music | Video | Drugstores | Computers | Travel | Books |
