Japan Is Swept with Web Fever

Internet penetration in Japan is growing rapidly as sales of personal computers and Net-ready cell phones take off. It was 13.4% of the Japanese population in 1998 and is now forecast to hit 86.9% by 2003, according to InfoCom Research, a Japanese think tank specializing in information and communications.
