The Graying of the Internet
|
The notion that the average Internet user is a 19-year-old tapping away on a computer in his dorm room may be outdated. According to a report by Media Metrix, baby boomers and seniors are the groups with the fastest growing numbers of Web surfers. Older surfers spend more time and view more sites than younger users do, too. And 45- to 64-year-old Web users are more likely than any other age group to own large-ticket items like satellite dishes and copy machines. They also use their credit cards more than any other age group.
