Will Sports Be a Home Run on the Web?

When America Online Inc. executive Ted Leonsis bought the Washington Capitals last year, one of the first things he did was spruce up the hockey team's Web site. Leonsis is probably onto something. Online sports sales are likely to take off, according to market researcher Jupiter Communications. And ticket and sporting goods will make up most of the $3 billion in online sports revenues in 2003.
