2000's Online Winners?
Last year may have been the breakthrough e-Christmas, but don't expect online sales to go anywhere but up. Freight forwarder DHL Worldwide Express has commissioned a study predicting that sales via the Internet will more than double in the fourth quarter of 2000 from the same period last year. "Growth engine" items, drugstore items, white goods, and home entertainment are set to rise fourfold, while the clothing, automotive, and food-and-beverage sectors will see smaller -- but still substantial -- gains.
