Security Concerns Keep Women from Shopping Online
Concern about the safety of ordering online is the biggest stumbling block to more women shopping on the Net, according to a recent study from researcher Cyber Dialogue. Among the 24 million women on the Net who have not purchased online, 40% say they are concerned about the security of the information they give on sites. Nearly 90% of women online say that guaranteed transaction security persuades them make repeat visits to online shopping sites, vs. 81% of the men surveyed. And while 67% of women online say that privacy policies encourage them to return to shopping sites, only 52% of men said privacy policies would influence repeat shopping.
