Did you know Feb. 13th is the fourth annual Doing Business in Your Bathrobe Day? It’s being promoted by Webmomz, a resource I happened upon today for mothers who have or want to start a business at home.
I work from home a fair amount, sometimes—like now—in the evenings after the kids have gone to bed. Now that they’re getting older and need me around more for homework and other activities after school, I’ve been trying to get home earlier as often as I can. BusinessWeek made it easier for me to do this by giving me a four-pound, fully networked laptop I can easily lug back and forth between the office and home. I like to set it up right on the kitchen table, dangerously close to the refrigerator and next to the trio of picture windows that overlooks our backyard.
I happen to be sitting there right now in my bathrobe—the fuzzy red one I’ve had for years, and that my husband hates. About 10 minutes ago, he came in for a snack, gave me a long, hard look, and asked what size robe I wear. If he’s planning to buy me a new one, I hope it arrives in time for Doing Business in Your Bathrobe Day.
You know, Amy, it's people like you and your fuzzy robes that encourage the likes of Pajamasmedia.com. (Just kidding.)
Thanks for the blog. A great idea. (I heard about it at BW's Blogspotting blog.)
What about the occasional non-BW working parent "guest post?"
I'm sure there are enough possibilities.
Take care,
Mike
Thanks for the comment, Mike. If you're a non-BW working parent who would like to do a guest post, send it along. If it raises an interesting working parent issue, I'll get it up on the site.

Dear Amy,
You're right about the red robe--it's not my favorite. If you play your cards right, maybe I'll get you something more fashionable for Valentine's Day.
Love,
Your Husband
Larry,
Feel free to confer with me about any and all gifts for your wonderful wife!
Lauren
Amy,
I also have a super hideous bathrobe: it's white and very faded!:) I come home, put on the robe and my super chic glasses and get to work (check email and homework, cook dinner, drink wine)! I think my husband hates my robe, too. Being the diplomat that he is, he hasn't commented on it yet!
And now, due to a lingering eye infection, I have to wear my chic glasses all the time! Things just keep getting better;)
