Old, New, Borrowed, Black?

No, we’re not announcing the latest Goth wedding trends. Instead, we are pointing out the newly designed BusinessWeek.com homepage, with sleek black header and footer.

The redesign is all part of BusinessWeek’s commitment to offering forward-thinking content for our users. John A. Byrne, editor-in-chief of BusinessWeek.com and executive editor of BusinessWeek magazine, describes it well in his blog post: “A full year in the making, our new look represents a massive effort to increase our usefulness to you, to make our site more vibrant and more focused on need-to-know breaking business news. We think this next generation home page makes for a fresher, more dynamic, more modern and less-cluttered appearance.”

This launch also brings a few new features to the BX site. Most notably, we’ve added a “Jobs” tab to the BX topics. In addition to the news and blog coverage, BX users can now view jobs related to numerous business topics. These contextual job ads do not appear on every topic, as they are meant to be relevant — and let’s face it, there aren’t any jobs at Ponzi Schemes (at least not any more). Some topics that do feature jobs are also among the most popular, including Social Networking, Small Business Marketing and Green Energy.

We also increased the amount you can write for the description when you suggest a topic from 500 to 1,200 characters (including spaces). This allows you more room to explain your topic. (For more info on suggesting a topic, see our past post for details.)

The last thing we improved you can’t see, but will definitely appreciate. We made some performance tweaks to enhance your productivity. So take a peek around and, as always, send us your feedback.
