You Asked, We Answered

April 30, 2009

Passionate Business Exchange users continue to ask for new features and enhancement to the site, and we are listening.

For example, BX users have asked for a way to save topics of interest to their BX profile in addition to the topics automatically listed based upon their activity. Our latest release, which went live late last night, allows you to do just that.

Now, when you click to a topic of interest, say, Marketing to Women, you’ll see a “save this topic” arrow. Saving a topic puts a star on the topic in your activity bar (on the left-hand side) and weighs it higher than other topics in your top 10. You also can now sort your activity by “topics saved” to see all of your saved topics.

In addition, we’ve added new notifications to keep you in the loop on what others are saying about the content reacted to or added. After adding content to a topic or reacting to an article, you will now receive an email when someone else reacts to that same story. This allows you to see the conversation and respond. You can easily opt out of these notifications from your account page.

We also receive a lot of requests for a search bar on each BX page. While we didn’t add a BX search box to each page, we do want to point out that there is a search box at the top of every page (in the grey header). This searches the entire site, including Business Exchange.

Enter a topic or keyword in the complete site search and you’ll see “Topic” results above the BusinessWeek article results. For example, entering the term “newspaper” will yield three very accurate Business Exchange topic results: Newspaper Companies, Newspaper Revenue and Tribune Company. Try it for yourself!

As you can see we take your feedback seriously, so don’t forget to send us your thoughts, questions and comments.
