Business Exchange (BX) is BusinessWeek’s answer to the social networking predicament in which most business professionals find themselves: How can these various social media sites help me network and do my job better and more efficiently?
Business Exchange is a site where business professionals can collaborate and network around business topics. With some 1,400 topics (and growing), BX’s smart human filter makes sense of the endless information that clouds the Web. Each topic is automatically filled with aggregated content that users can view, react to, and save. Users are also encouraged to add relevant content from ANY outside news or blog source to improve the quality of information in the topic. User activity determines the rank of the content within the topics, so users see the most active and relevant content first.
In true Web 2.0 fashion, BX users help determine the content on the site. If a topic doesn’t yet exist on Business Exchange, users are encouraged to suggest it. Each topic is vetted by our User Participation Team to ensure a business focus and to cut down on duplicates. Right now we have everything from Entrepreneurship to Online Ad Operations to Twitter to the U.S. Economy and more.
Our partnership with LinkedIn allows you to easily register and upload your LinkedIn profile data. Your activity on Business Exchange becomes an extended resume that includes your topics of interest. Through the topics, you can also find and connect with other users with similar topic interests.
By adding people to your network, you can easily keep up on all their activity and learn more even faster. Network activity is displayed on your BX homepage, so you can quickly see what people are adding and reacting to on the site.
Business Exchange is an ever-evolving endeavor. Built on an agile software platform, we just launched our 36th version of the BX site, which included the addition of this blog. Every three weeks or so, you will see new features and functionality as we continue to improve the site.
