Orin C. Smith Orin C. Smith has been President and Chief Executive Officer of Starbucks Corp. since June 2000. Mr. Smith served as Chief Operating Officer of Oakley Inc. from June 1994 to May 2000. Mr. Smith joined Starbucks in 1990 as Chief Financial Officer and Vice President, became Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in 1993, was named President and Chief Operating Officer in 1994 and was named Chief Executive Officer in June 2000. Prior to joining Starbucks Corporation, Mr. Smith served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial and Administrative Officer of Danzas USA, a subsidiary of Europe's largest transportation company. During his tenure, Starbucks has grown from $285 million in revenue to $4.1 billion in fiscal year 2003. Prior to joining Starbucks, he spent a total of 14 years with Deloitte & Touche. He was later the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of two transportation companies. In between these assignments, he was Chief Policy and Finance Officer in the administration of two Washington State Governors. He has been a Director of Nike Inc. since September 20, 2004 and serves as a Member of its Audit Committee. He has been a Director of Starbucks Corp. since January 1996. Mr. Smith serves as a Director of Starbucks Coffee International. Mr. Smith served as a Director of Oakley Inc., a designer, manufacturer and distributor of premium performance sunglasses, footwear, apparel, accessories, and watches from August 1995 until retirement on July 10, 2003. He received his Bachelor's of Arts Degree in Business Administration from the University of Washington and MBA from Harvard Business School.
